The conventional x-ray technique cannot be done without in the orthopaedic diagnostics as this visualising method allows an insight into the bone structure. In the age of high-tech, however, the digital x-ray method with its many advantages is replacing standard machines. Shorter x-ray times and improved picture editing possibilities lead to a reduction of the dose of radiation and represent a considerably reduced radiation exposure for the patient. Last but not least, the digital picture archiving makes a simple copying and sending of pictures possible.
